Winston Speedway Up for Sale

Winston Speedway Up for Sale

If you have ever wanted to be a race promoter, here’s your chance with Winston Speedway. The 3/8-mile dirt oval is located in western Michigan, an hour northwest of Grand Rapids in Rothbury. Even better, the asking price is only $200,000 for two parcels of land totaling 32 acres.

“The track ran the last couple of years,” said Nate Bostrom, of RE/MAX West, the realtor handling the sale. “It was bought on a land contract and given back to the previous owner at the end of last season. It can easily be back up and running if the new owner gets on it right away.”

Grandstand seating consists of wood benches on a concrete platform. The concession stands come with all its equipment. The sale includes a well-used grader, TerraGator, tow truck, fire truck and front end loader.

“The equipment is usable — it just needs a little elbow grease,” Bostrom said. “The track is in great shape. It has a PA system, timing system for transponders, and new LED lights — all ready to go.”

The track ran a program of super and pro late models, IMCA modifieds, and several other support classes. Dean Wilkerson the track last. Winston Speedway ran regularly on Friday nights.

Its largest event of 2022 was last October, the Player Hater Wild West Shootout. Chad Finley, of Saint Johns, Michigan, took home the late model win; AJ Ward, of Ionia, Michigan won the IMCA modified feature.

Last year’s champions consists of Rich Neiser, of Fruitport, Michigan, in the late models and Brody Bowser, of Ionia, Michigan, in the IMCA modifieds.

“There are endless possibilities for this property,” said Bostrom. “There is room for a campground and enough space to hold festivals. It has easy access and is near population centers.”
