The American All-Star Series welcomed a new title sponsor at the Bluegrass Motorsports Show: Save A Lot. The discount supermarket chain will now headline the official name for the touring series, now being called the Save A Lot American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Products.
The sponsorship comes through the Houchens Food Group. It owns and operates Save A Lot stores across eight states: Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
“We have a lot of stores in towns close to the tracks the American All-Stars run at,” Houchens Food Group Division Manager Steve Stollings said. “We’re trying to get more people into our stores and help the racers and help the series grow. It’s a win-win situation.”
Stollings understands the sport. He started racing in 1992 and now competes in dirt late models. Stollings also strongly believes in supporting the community. He manages the special event Save A Lot Raceday in Hazard, Kentucky. It consists of a car show that raises money for individuals in need in the local community.
“Our mission statement is that we proudly empower employee-owners, serving customers and supporting communities,” Stollings said. “Sponsoring the American All-Star Series is supporting a community. Those tracks [the series travels to] are businesses. They support their families and they’re giving us something to do. We are helping them be more successful and bring more people into the stands.”
American All-Stars’ Joseph Rush said he’s excited to welcome Save A Lot as the series title sponsor.
“Save A Lot has sponsored our series for the past two years, but to get them as a title sponsor is a big deal,” Rush said. “It’s a business you don’t typically see in racing. A lot of times you see the same sponsors. I’m excited to welcome somebody new to the sport. And they’re good people.”
The Save A Lot American All-Star Series Presented PPM Racing Products opens its season on April 4 at 191 Speedway. The 31st Annual Save A Lot Raceday takes place earlier in the day in Hazard, Kentucky.
