Tyler Hoy: Traveling to New Tracks to Better Himself at Home

Tyler Hoy admits it’s been a couple years since he last won a feature. He hopes this weekend’s tripleheader trip to the Dirt Rich TV American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Products helps better his effort and return him to victory lane back at home.

Hoy regularly competes at Natural Bridge and Winchester speedways nearby his Stuarts Draft, Virginia, hometown.

“I’m just trying to get more experience and get better behind the wheel,” Hoy said. “The way you can do that is to travel. When you race against other people, you figure out how to work on your race car and tune better than when you race with your local guys.”

It won’t be easy, though. First off, the closest Hoy has come to Kentucky is his local KFC. This weekend will be his first time in the Bluegrass State. He’ll compete at three new tracks — and he’ll race against some of the finest in pro late model racing with the American All-Stars.

“It’s tough,” said Hoy of racing in the series. “It makes you up your game and go over your stuff two or three times, just to make sure everything’s perfect.”

Hoy enters the weekend with modest, yet realistic expectations.

“Just make all three shows and have good top-10 runs,” Hoy said of his goals. “And build a notebook for coming back home.”

The Stars and Stripes weekend starts on Thursday, July 3, at Willard Speedway. Then it moves south to Mountain Motor Speedway on Friday, July 4. The tripleheader concludes on Saturday, July 5, at Lake Cumberland Speedway.

While all three tracks are in Kentucky, they are three distinct, very different dirt ovals, with a contingent of strong locals looking to give the touring stars of the Dirt Rich TV American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Products. a run for their money.
