Natural Bridge Speedway: The Promoter Behind the Resurgence

When Tiffany Kidd took over the reins of Natural Bridge Speedway last year, it needed work. A lot of it. Both with the physical facility and the track’s reputation. However, now she’s got the Virginia dirt track rock and rollin’, ready for the Dirt2Media American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Products to return on Saturday, June 10.

“Things had been neglected,” said Kidd of the condition the track was in when she reopened it. “We had to get some lights fixed. We put in some new speakers — there was maybe one working speaker for the PA system. And we were able to source water at the track. At the beginning of the year, they were getting it from down the road. We were able to replace both wells at the racetrack.”

Now with a functioning operation at the end of 2022, Kidd upped the game for 2023.

“We replaced the fire suppression systems and the front and back concessions during the off-season,” Kidd said. “We fixed some erosion where people like to sit at the racetrack. And we redid the tower we work out of and redid the VIP tower on the back.”

While Kidd and her team refurbished the facilities, she hopes to parlay her experience as both a boutique owner and truck driver to further improve Natural Bridge Speedway.

“I’ve always been a people person,” said Kidd. “I make connections to help make things work. You definitely have to be a people person. You have to be able to listen to people. Everybody’s going to give you advice, but even if it’s advice you’re not going to take, you have to be able to listen.”

With the track’s situation stabilized, Tiffany Kidd now seeks to build a bright future for Natural Bridge Speedway. A key for that effort is reaching out to kids.

“We have a rookie division for kids 15 and under,” Kidd said. “We started a Little Rascals division, with battery-operated karts. It started in April, and we’ve had 10 to 12 three- to five-year-olds.

“We have a couple of kids days on Sundays. It’s not a race day, but we’ll have bounce houses, activities for kids, and it will be free to come in. We want to get the community involved and build a good name for the racetrack.”

This Saturday’s show, with the Dirt2Media American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Products, offers a great opportunity to see what Kidd and her team has done at Natural Bridge Speedway. Josh Dietz leads the points by 38 over second-place Jesse Lowe and 57 over third-place Brandon Williams.
