When Brushcreek Motorsports Complex promoter Steven Partin heard an idea hatched by his mother, Melissa, and sister, Lauren, he squinted. They proposed an Airbnb 40 feet from the edge of the straightaway on the dirt oval in Peebles, Ohio.
“I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical,” Partin said. “But, they did all the work, and what they accomplished has surprised me.”
Brushcreek Motorsports Complex had an old building once used for timing and scoring, and as a VIP suite. They recently moved those functions to space atop the grandstand.
“The building already had a bathroom,” said Partin. “They added a shower, a full kitchen, and two bedrooms to sleep up to eight people.”
They listed the space on Airbnb as a “Unique 2 Bedroom Space Overlooking a Dirt Race Track in Peebles, Ohio, U.S.A.”
It further advertised, “This unique two bedroom space overlooks the flag stand of a dirt race track. This is a quiet, private space [as long as there are no races going on!]”
But, racing remains the attraction for this Airbnb — so much so that they have reservations deep into the 2023 season.
The space goes on average for $200 a night.
“The Airbnb may be rented every race weekend,” Partin said. “First off, we are giving free tickets to the races for the tenants and anyone staying with them. If you split the rental between six or eight friends, it is really inexpensive. Bring your own food and booze and it’s a fun race weekend that won’t break the bank.”
Brushcreek Motorsports Complex begins its season on April 2 and runs every other weekend through the end of October.
“If you are renting our Airbnb, it has heating, so you’ll be warm watching the races in the spring and fall,” said Partin. “If it’s hot in the summer, you can be cool because it has air conditioning.”
