Plymouth Motor Speedway and South Bend Motor Speedway For Sale

A pair of Indiana tracks — Plymouth Motor Speedway and South Bend Motor Speedway — are on the market. Until they sell, though, track owners Kevin and Brandy Sauer insist they will continue to operate.

Kevin, a former late model racer, cited the loss of both of his parents as a contributing factor in putting the tracks up for sale. He and his wife want to also spend more time with their children and grandchildren.

Kevin first bought South Bend with his brother Vernon in late 2015, before later buying his brother out. In 2021, he entered a lease with the option to buy Plymouth from former ARCA driver Ed Kennedy. Kennedy had covered Plymouth with dirt, but the Sauers removed it and returned the track to its paved surface.

“We’re selling Plymouth as a turnkey operation,” Sauer said. “South Bend needs some lovin’ and a little bit of wall work to make it raceable for big cars.”

Both tracks have large capacities for spectators — Plymouth, with 20 acres, holds 7000 people, South Bend, with 59 acres, 7500.

“The grandstand at Plymouth Motor Speedway has some history — it’s the former backstretch grandstand at Daytona,” Sauer said. “We have a new concession stand with stainless steel fixtures, costing $150,000. The lighting was upgraded last season.”

The Sauers feel Plymouth has a future as a racetrack, while South Bend is prime real estate for redevelopment.

“I will sell Plymouth Motor Speedway only to someone who wants to run a racetrack,” Sauer said. “They will have to keep the schedule as is throughout the 2026 season. Brandy and I will help the new owners get their feet wet and we’ll stick around until they tell us they got it down.

“South Bend Motor Speedway is being sold as land — and you get a racetrack with it, if you want to run it as such.”

Both tracks will be sold as is, with all the equipment needed to operate them included.

“We will take only our personal items and will hand the keys over to the new owners of each speedway,” Sauer said.

The Sauers have not publicly listed a price for either property.

“We only want to talk with serious buyers,” Sauer said. “We don’t want nosey people calling. We’ll reveal all the details to someone who is sincere.”

If you’re serious, you can reach the Sauers through either the Plymouth Motor Speedway and South Bend Motor Speedway Facebook pages.
