Tyler Hoy ventured from his native Virginia to race in Kentucky for the first time last year. That trip netted him his first win, at any track, in years. Now Hoy’s looking for more of that same magic as he takes on the full schedule for the Save A Lot American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Products.
“We had a bunch of fun last year [during] that July swing [in Kentucky],” Hoy, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, said. “So, we figured, let’s give it a shot [at the full schedule].
Most of his experience comes at his home track of Natural Bridge Speedway. But Hoy isn’t afraid of trying something new, thanks to advice from a past American All-Stars champ, Logan Roberson.
“Logan gave me a big pointer: ‘Don’t worry about getting your teeth kicked in,’” Hoy said. “[Logan said,] ‘You’ll be a whole lot better racer when you come back home. You’ll learn a lot more and do stuff to your race car that you’ve never done at your local race track.’”
Hoy learned quickly. He won the American All-Star Series race at Mountain Motor Speedway last July. There he beat two-time series champ Tyler Arrington, perennial favorites Trevor Sise and Zach Sise, and regional hot shoes like Josh Dietz and AJ Hicks.
Maybe Hoy found something with his setup, or perhaps that kind of victory put some more pep into his step. Later in 2025 he finished second in a Rush Late Model Series event at Winchester Speedway.
And maybe Roberson was right. Last Saturday, Tyler Hoy finished third at his home track of Natural Bridge Speedway.
Nevertheless, Tyler Hoy keeps his expectations realistic, hoping for consistent top 10s — and he’s achieved that so far. He earned an eighth at Ponderosa Speedway and a ninth at Lake Cumberland Speedway earlier this month. Now Hoy’s looking for another top 10 this Saturday, April 25, when he visits 191 Speedway with the Save A Lot American All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Products.
