Gasko Gaskets: ProFabrication’s Choice to Seal Its Headers

What’s the genesis behind Gasko Gaskets? ProFabrication simply wanted better fitting gaskets for its line of headers.

“We had been working with other gasket companies and nothing ever worked out,” said Andy Garris, of ProFabrication. “Our flanges are a little bit different than other brands’ flanges. So, I was like, ‘Well, I guess we’re going to start making gaskets.’”

Since Gasko Gaskets fit so well, Garris said racers do not need to add loads of silicone to create a good seal.

“We work with a bunch of engine builders, and engine builders don’t like silicone,” Garris said. “The biggest problem is that people just don’t know how to use silicone — you don’t need to use a whole tube per side. Engine builders can’t stand guys gobbing the gaskets down with silicone and then it gets into the ports, and later the racers complain how the engine runs.”

Gasko Gaskets are constructed out of copper, not graphite like many “paper” gaskets or multi-layer steel (MLS). With paper-style gaskets, it often becomes a chore to clean them up after a single use. MLS and copper gaskets can be used multiple times.

“The MLS and copper gaskets are fairly close in durability and longevity,” said Garris. “The only downfall with the MLS stuff is that if it gets bolted down wrong, over time it can create an issue, because it’s crushing itself together.”

ProFabrication sells Gasko Gaskets for the following applications: Chevrolet 602, Chevrolet 604, Chevrolet CT525, Clements 13- and 10-degree small-block Chevrolet, and OEM 23-degree small-block Chevrolet. Pricing ranges from $52.50-$61.50 for a set.
