Jake Sachau: The Car That Keeps Winning

Jake Sachau: The Car That Keeps Winning

Last Wednesday, Jake Sachau won his seventh straight sport mod feature. That triumph took place at Stuart International Speedway in Iowa. And just to think, Sachau contemplated selling his winning ride last year after winning the IMCA Super Nationals at Iowa’s Boone Speedway.

“I was thinking I could sell my car … and make a little money to buy a new car,” Sachau, of Manning, Iowa, said. “I actually posted it for sale on Facebook, but a friend said that was a stupid thing to do. He talked me out of selling it. Now, I’m glad he did.”

In 10 years of racing, Sachau has 64 wins to his credit in IMCA sport mod competition. Sachau also won the IMCA rookie of the year in stock cars last year. However, he’s focusing solely on his sport mod. With his sport mod from Rage Chassis, he hopes to continue his winning ways. Especially, when it comes to the $25,000-to-win, $250,000 Challenge at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, in May.

“In preparation, I’m not going to race any weekly shows,” said Sachau. “I don’t want any more nights on my engines. I want the learn all I can about shocks and suspension to make my sport mod a little bit better [and] I have to make myself better, too.”

With the big race at Clay County in his sights, Jake Sachau said he will race tonight at Clay County Fair Speedway.

“We need to learn more about the track,” Sachau said. “Everything we do in the next three weeks will be to prepare for that [$25,000-to-win] race. Clay County Fair Speedway is going to be a little bit faster [than Boone Speedway]. Everything else on the chassis will be fine-tuned for the big race by us getting more laps in at the track.”
