The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series’ stop at Tennessee’s Wartburg Speedway provided plenty of challenges for eventual race winner Blake Brown and thrills for spectators.
In the early laps, Brown, of Corbin, Kentucky, and Brandon Kinzer, of Lexington, Kentucky, duked it out for first-place. Brown finally won that battle on lap seven.
As the race went on, Brown encountered heavy traffic on lap 18. It required Brown to tiptoe through the field on the ¼-mile oval. This allowed second-place Jeff Hamby, of Lancing, Tennessee, to close in. Blake Brown finally cleared traffic on lap 22 and rode on to win the 25-lap feature. Hamby finished second, Kinzer third.
Kinzer and Brown head into the series’ next race — Saturday, September 5, at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky — tied for the points championship lead.
