WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (April 13, 2002) -- After three yellow flags for
minor incidents before a lap could be completed, veteran campaigner
Harry Reed of Howell, N.J. scored his first 35-lap Modified stock car
victory of the 2002 season on Saturday night at Wall Township Speedway.

In support action, Rob Williams, Jr. of Farmingdale, N.J. led all 25
laps in the Pro Stock feature, Shannon Mongeau of Brick, N.J. came from
15th starting position to win the 20-lap Street Stock main event, and
Billy Weichert of Chatham, N.J. topped the Trucks in their 20-lapper.
The Legends feature was canceled after seven laps were completed due to
a fatal accident that took the life of Mike DeSantis of South River,
N.J.

In the Modified main, pole starter Mike Brennan of Morganville, N.J.
held command for the first eight circuits. Meanwhile, Reed, who had
started from the fourth slot, worked his way up to Brennan's bumper and,
on a lap nine restart, charged by on the inside in the first turn and
never looked back. At one point, Reed built up a full straightaway lead
over second place but that was erased by two subsequent caution periods.

His eventual margin of victory was about two-thirds of a straight over
Felix Verlangieri III of Lavallette, N.J. Rich Mongeau of Brick was
third and then it was defending division champion and opening night
winner Jimmy Blewett of Howell. Curtis Truex of Mayetta, N.J. was fifth
and he was followed by Chip Graves of Howell, Dave Michel of Manahawkin,
Tim Arre of Toms River, N.J., Frank Polimeda of Fort Lee, N.J., and
Steve Whitt of Farmingdale.
