Eric Williams Enters Sunday's Thunder Road Finale In Title Contention

For Immediate Release TR69-100202

Barre, VT - - Eric Williams of Hyde Park, who came within one point of the Thunder Road Late Model championship in 1999, will make another title bid in this Sunday's 31st New England Dodge Dealers Fall Foliage 200. Williams trails Phil Scott by 18 points entering the final day of the season.

The Fall Foliage 200 is the final event of the 2002 ACT Dodge Tour and it affords Scott the opportunity to win two championships in one race. He leads Patrick Laperle in the ACT Dodge Tour standings by 75 points.

"It would be sweet to win the Thunder Road championship, because we'd be beating the best in Phil Scott," Williams said. "He's had a great season on the Tour and at the Road. I'd be tickled to end the year with a strong finish, it would mean a top-5 at both Thunder Road and in the series, and that would be a pretty good feat."

Over 40 Late Models are expected to compete Sunday for 26 starting spots, including Milk Bowl winner Dave Pembroke, Labor Day Classic winner Jean-Paul Cyr and Dwayne Lanphear, third in points on the ACT Dodge Tour.

Post time Sunday is 1:30 pm. Gates open at 10 am. Admission is $18/ adults, $5/children (6-12).
