Thunder Road Milk Bowl Purse Tops $40,0000

For Immediate Release TR61-091702

Barre, VT - - Thunder Road has posted awards for the 39th New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl exceeding $41,000, including $3,000-to-win and lap leader contingencies of over $3800. More than 40 ACT Late Models are expected to compete for 26 starting spots on the Milk Bowl grid during the event's two-day format Saturday/Sunday September 28, 29.

The Milk Bowl is the 15th of 16 ACT Dodge Tour events. It consists of three 50-lap segments. The initial line-up is determined by time trials and qualifying races, with subsequent line-ups formed by inverting the prior finish.

Drivers earn points in each Milk Bowl segment by order of finish (1 point for 1st, 2 points for 2nd etc). The lowest three round total decides the winner. Dwayne Lanphear of Morrisville won the 2001 Milk Bowl with the highest winning score in the event's 38-year history (2-10-8=20).

Pete Fecteau won the Booth Brothers/Hood Dairy Pole Award last year with a Thunder Road Late Model single-lap record time of 13.217 seconds. Fecteau won segments one and three and became the first two-segment winner not to win the overall event since John Rosati in 1971.

Milk Bowl entrants include the top five drivers on the 2002 ACT Dodge Tour; Phil Scott of Montpelier, Patrick Laperle of St Denis, Quebec, Dwayne Lanphear, Eric Williams of Hyde Park and Milton's Brent Dragon and Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, recent winner of the Thunder Road Labor Day Classic.

General admission tickets for the 39th New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl, good for Saturday and Sunday, are $20/adults, $5/children (6-12). Saturday-only tickets ($10) will also be sold. Post time each day is 1:30 pm. Gates open Saturday at 10:30 am and Sunday at 10 am.
