PASS Octoberfest 200: It’s all about winning!

Pro Stock racers from all over the northeast and eastern Canada will be rolling in to Thompson Speedway on October fifth for the inaugural PASS Octoberfest 200. Expect one of the largest talent-laden fields of full-fendered short track race cars ever assembled to be on hand for their first 200 lap appearance on the high banked 5/8 mile speedway.

The points chases are over so competitors from all of the Northeast’s weekly Pro Stock tracks are expected to be on hand, looking for a big payday and more importantly, the bragging rights that go with winning this prestigious event. Southern tier aces like Chuck Docharty, Rick Martin, Dick Houlihan and Mike O’Sullivan have all filed entries, and Chris Perley and Tom Baldwin will invade the Pro Stock ranks for the 200. PASS will be well represented with both newly crowned 2002 champion Ben Rowe and 2001 titlest “Sud’n Sam Sessions entered as are Kenny Wright, Steve Knowlton, Larry Gelinas Russ Hersey, Scott Mulkern and Richard “Bubba Pelton” A strong field of Canadian maritime invaders are expected to make the trip to Thompson, led by Dave Gorveatt, Scott Fraser, John Flemming and Mike MacKenzie. Norm Wrenn and Mike Rowe have both earned guaranteed starting spots for one of Pro Stock racings’ biggest shootouts of the season.

A $3,000 to win open format late model 100 lap feature and a $1,500 to win open competition-style limited sportsman 50 lapper will round out this action packed day of racing excitement.

Open practice for all racing divisions gets underway Friday October fifth at noon and runs until 9 PM. On race day pit gates open at 9 AM with the grandstands open at 3 PM and Pro Stock time trials at 3 PM. The PASS Octoberfest 200 is scheduled to take the green by 8 PM.
