Mechalides Seeks PASS Redemption at Star

The Pro All Stars Series returns to Star Speedway for their second and final appearance of the season this Saturday night and Louie Mechalides is hoping for a change of luck at the Epping quarter mile. He was the man to beat last time around, keeping Johnny Clark and Ben Rowe in his rear view mirror for over 100 laps. A brake problem slowed Mechalides and allowed eventual winner Ben Rowe to take over the top spot on a lap 106 restart.  Mechalides nursed his Cushman Competition Ford home to a sixth place finish. Sam Sessions stepped up to challenge Rowe throughout the final forty-five laps but couldn’t muster a pass and finished the 150-lap battle on Rowe’s rear bumper.

The entire PASS field will face an additional challenge this weekend as Mike Rowe has filed an official entry for the 150. The Maine racing legend is entering his first Pro All Stars series event since finishing fourth in the PASS season opener at Oxford . Rowe will be behind the wheel of the Lux Enterprises/ K&K Construction Monte Carlo at Star.

Race fans can expect an all-star field when the Pro All Stars 150 goes green on Saturday night. 350 Supers, Street Stocks, Strictly Stocks and Road Runners round out an exciting card of racing action. Gates open at noon with Sunoco Race Fuels time trials scheduled for 3:30 PM. Racing will take the green at 4:30 PM .
