SPEEDWAY 95 NEXT PASS STOP

Ben Rowe leads the Pro All Stars pack for the first time as the international pro stock tour heads up the Interstate Saturday June 22nd for the Clay GMC 150 at Hermon’s (ME) Speedway 95. It’s an unfamiliar spot for the driver of the Mechanical Services/High Tech Insulation Chevrolet. Although he tops the list in PASS wins and fast time awards, the fast guy from Turner Maine has never led the Pro All Stars Series points standings until now.

Rowe has to like his chances of building upon that lead next weekend as he swept both events at the tricky 1/3 mile in 2001.But he’ll have his hand full as he seeks to keep his streak alive with close to 40 of the northeast’s’ top pro stock racers expected to try and put an end to Rowe’s winning ways at Speedway 95. Four different drivers have emerged victorious in the first four PASS series events of 2002 and a number of drivers have a great shot at extending that streak. Johnny Clark is hot on Rowe’s heels in the point standings, and would love to record his first PASS win in front of the friendly central Maine crowd. Montmagny winner Dave Gorveatt could be on a roll, looking to make it two wins in a row while Louie Mechalides is due to break out of his hard luck streak and put the Cushman Competition Ford in PASS victory Lane. Gary Smith and his Uncle Henry’s team have had a sub-par season to date but he’ll be looking to turn his season around in front of the home town crowd, while Sammy Sessions will look to rebound from a hard crash at Montmagny that saw him finish 22nd and slip to 4th in the PASS point standings.

Speedway 95’s exciting support divisions will round out the card for the Clay GMC 150.  Sunoco Race Fuels time trials get underway at 5:45 PM, with the first race set to go green at 7 PM. The Clay GMC 150 will take the green flag no later than 9:30 PM.
