"New faces continue to post wins at OPS Summer Series "

OXFORD, ME--- This weeks amazing total of Big Apple / Texaco Summer Series entries climbed to 208 total, the biggest ever car count, and more new faces continue to post wins in the popular mid-week program.

Rex Geary won the first of three feature events for the full sized and V-8 powered Oxford Outlaw division. After a rocky season start Geary led from wire to wire and survived a caution period as well. Jeremy Leavitt gave chase for just about the entire second half of the race with John Idiarolla getting his first ever top three. Vern Hodgkin and Sherwood Pingrey rounded out the top five. In round two Bob "The Silver Bullett" Washburn posted his first win and Glenn Henderson raced home a close second. Jeff Schmidt was third equaling a career best and Zack Hatch and Kevin Plummer would finish fourth and fifth. Greg Sessions topped the field in the third event, opening day winner Skip Douglass Jr. being second and point leader Bob Crocker was third. Skip Foster ended up fourth after being as high as third and challenging for second and Steve Brill posted his third straight fifth place finish.

Mike Winslow took the lead in the early going to post his first win in the 4 cylinder Runnin' Rebel series of three feature events with over 70 cars in the division for the night. Phil Demaris then picked up the pace to finish second and Adam Pelletier made it a career best at third. Gerald Parlin and Larry Langelier rounded out the top five. In event two of the night Jamie Heath led from the start, survived a caution period and posted his first of the season. Rich Vadaboncoeur then moved up to second after several spins shuffled the top ten running order. Zach Audet was third, Ben Britton fourth and Troy Jordan rounded out the top five. In the final event for the division Ed Prevost got his first win of the year with Tom Bisson continuing his top three efforts in 2002 with a runner up spot this time. Jeff Hebert again cashed a top five run for third, Maurice Martel Sr. fourth and Leo Hatch rounded out the top five.

Stephanie Bowie made it three straight in the Ladies Division, but it took a miscue in traffic by then race leader Tina Follett to make it happen. Ms. Follett was second, Deb Martin again third and the final two spots in the top five were Jodee Constantino and April Bilodeau at the finish.

Rudy Kyllonen broke Kyle Coolidge's two race win streak with his first win of the year in the Mini Cup class. Rich Thibeault again was close to the top level with another runner up finish and Coolidge got third after leading the early laps of the 10 lap dash. Danny Vining and Mark Peterson rounded out the top five.

Marvin Hamilton led a field of 17 pickup trucks around the 3/8 mile asphalt oval from start to finish in the 15 lap Sports Trucks encounter. Ryan Payzant challenged, but settled for second at the end with Zach Robitaille third again. John Childs and Yogi Hiscock rounded out the top five.
