Bruno Motorsports announces 2002
Sponsors and Team AdditionsBruno Motorsports of Castleton Vt. That will field a car for the entire ACT Tour that runs throughout New England and Canada announces its new sponsors and team line up for the 2002 season. Mike and Alayne Bruno primary owners of the # 22 Chevrolet powered Late Model race car made the news public just 3 weeks before the ACT Dodge Tour kicks off in Epping New Hampshire at Star Speedway. Cricket’s Restaurant of Peru, New York will be the primary team sponsor for the up-coming season, and this sponsor comes on board with plenty of auto racing background. Dick Nephew and his wife Paula owners of the restaurant have been involved in racing for the last 15 years and know very well the perils of the racing business. “Last year we had 2 cars in the racing business and now were moving to the Bruno team. Mike and I think a-lot alike, were looking forward to the up coming season together. I believe were a good mix for the ACT Tour” said Nephew. Crickets Restaurant is a steak, seafood and spirits establishment that can seat up to 425 people and prides itself on its great food and family atmosphere. Also on board the Bruno team for 2002 is Yipes Auto Accessories a new business to the Rutland, Vt. area. Yipes a custom car & truck shop that has been a fixture in the Burlington and Barre car market for years. The new store located on South Main St in Rutland is their fourth full service auto and truck after market accessory location. Other sponsors for 2002 are Kinney Drug Stores, Smiths Auto Parts, Sunoco Race Fuels and Bruno’s Auto Repair and 24hr Towing with 2 locations one in Castleton and their brand new location on North Main St. in Rutland.
The team takes on a new look for 2002, as Dan Ducharme and Mike Parks will serve as Co-Crew Chief’s. Ducharme a 10 year journeymen of racing believes their common sense approach to the new season will gel nicely with Bruno’s true racing experience for a realistic run at the ACT Tour Late Model championship. Rounding out the team for 2002 are Brian Bushee, Don Ducharme, Glen Davis, Sue Edgerly, Janice Hebert and Heather Ducharme. “The cars are just about ready to go, I know our teams fired up and eager to start the season. Now it’s a matter of getting out there to get it done”. Said Mike Bruno “Were looking forward to racing a complete season again. I am grateful for all the help I have had to get to this point; it’s been a challenge considering all we’ve been through the past couple of years. I’m ready to go racing ACT style.
