Big Late Model Field Building For ACT Dodge Tour Opener At Star Speedway

For Immediate Release ACT11-030102

Waterbury, VT - - Thirty-two Late Model stock car drivers have filed full-season entries for the 2002 ACT Dodge Tour, which gets underway Saturday, April 13 at Star Speedway in Epping, NH. Additional full-season entries, and teams competing on a race-by-race basis, could combine to form a huge opening day field, predicts ACT spokesperson Tom Herzig.

“ACT has sold 74 Late Model driver licenses to date,” reports Herzig. “That list includes some people, who primarily race once a week locally, but the first race after a long winter is hard to pass up. There may well be 45 cars or more at Star trying to qualify for the New England Dodge Dealers 100.”

The 2002 ACT Dodge Tour roster contains several New Hampshire-based Late Model teams that are expected at the Star opener, including Tracie Bellerose/Gorham, Buzzie Bezanson/Plaistow, Herb Drugg/Troy, Gary Knight/Charlestown, Ken Dufour/Bethlehem, Victor Johnson/Troy and Sam Gooden/Whitefield.

Thunder Road Late Model Rookie of the Year Cooper MacRitchie, 2001 ACT Dodge Tour Runner-up Jamie “Hurricane “ Fisher of Shelburne, VT and his brother, Steve Fisher, are the most recent full-season entrants. The list includes defending ACT Dodge Tour Champion Pete Fecteau of Morrisville, 2001 Thunder Road Late Model Champion Cris Michaud of Northfield, last year’s Milk Bowl winner Dwayne Lanphear and former Airborne Raceway Champions Mike Bruno and Brent Dragon.

Airborne Raceway in Plattsburgh, NY will kick off its 48th stock car season with the 4th annual Remington “4-10” Shootout Sunday, April 28. The Remington race card will include Airborne’s NAPA Flying Tigers, Street Stocks and Renegades. Twenty-two Late Model drivers have qualified for the $5,000-to-win Shootout by having won a 2001 main event at Airborne, Thunder Road or on the 2001 ACT Dodge Tour.
