ACT Sends Cilley Packing After Repeat Tire Rule Offense
For Immediate Release ACT48-071502
Waterbury, VT - - The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced Monday that long-time Late Model competitor Jim Cilley has been barred from participation in all ACT sanctioned events effective immediately. Cilley's penalty will be in force for the remainder of 2002 and the entire 2003 season. The ruling also stipulated loss of all 2002 points and a fine of $1,000.
Cilley was found to be in violation of ACT's tire rule after tires he registered for competition at a weekly Thunder Road event July 11 that were found to have been illegally altered. Cilley had drawn a 2001 suspension for a similar offense.
"This was a bad choice on Jim Cilley's part," said ACT President Tom Curley. "We have been very clear about our intention to eliminate this type of activity from the competition we sanction."
