For Immediate Release ACT41-062402

Canaan, NH - - "Rocket" Roger Brown of Lancaster, NH, winner of the last two NAPA Flying Tiger events at Thunder Road, continued his winning ways Sunday at Canaan USA Speedway. Brown powered underneath Scott Payea on lap 17 of the 50-lap Subway Grand Slam Series event and held off Series point leader Craig Bushey and third-place Eric Pembroke, to earn the checkered flag. Payea and Bill Sawyer rounded out the top five.

Bushey was able to draw alongside at the end of the straightaways, but Brown got through the turns with ease never surrendered the lead. Bushey holds a 178-167 advantage over Brown after two of four Subway Grand Slam events.

Chip Grenier, the early leader and prior winner of the semi-feature, exited before the halfway mark with motor problems. Pete Ainsworth, Joe Steffen, Pembroke and John Hayes each won a heat race.

The Subway Grand Slam Flying Tiger Series moves to Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH Saturday, August 17.

The 50-lap Tri-State Street Stock Series opener was won by 17 year-old Ryan Nolin of Georgia, VT following the disqualification of Dustin Criss of Plattsburgh, NY for illegal springs. Criss, Nolin, third-place David Allen and fourth-place Renee Beede got a rousing hand from the crowd after racing in tandem, inches apart, for the final 10 laps. Criss'demise moved Brendan Moodie Jr and Matt Potter into the top five.
