Thunder Road Opener Could Extend ACT's "New Winner" Streak To Eight

Barre, VT - - Many ACT Dodge Tour competitors will do their best to extend the tour's "different winner's" streak this Sunday, May 5, when Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, VT begins its 43rd stock car racing season with the Merchants Bank Freedom Lynx 150. Forty-two Late Model drivers will compete for 26 available starting spots, including Patrick Laperle of St Denis, Quebec, winner of the ACT Dodge Tour opener at Star Speedway. 

Laperle became the seventh winner in the last seven ACT Dodge Tour events, dating back to 2001 ACT Champion Pete Fecteau's victory at Hudson (NH) Speedway last July. Among the candidates to prolong the "different winner's streak" are defending Thunder Road Champion Cris Michaud, two-time Thunder Road Champion Phil Scott and Ken Dufour of Bethlehem, NH, winner of last year's Merchant's Bank Freedom Lynx 150.

The NAPA Flying Tigers and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will also see opening day action. More than 120 race cars are expected. Thunder Road's annual Stock Car show will be held at the track on Saturday, May from 10 am -1 pm, admission is free. A practice for all divisions will follow.
