Patrick Laperle Gunning For Last Available Spot In Remington Shootout
For Immediate Release AR09-041802
Plattsburgh, NY - - Canadian Patrick Laperle, whose New England Dodge Dealers 100 win last
week at Star Speedway qualified him for the 2003 Remington "4-10" Shootout, has yet to make his way
into this year's event.
The Remington "4-10" Shootout is a $5,000-to-win Late Model Invitational, which kicks off
Airborne Raceway's 48th season, this Sunday, April 28. Twenty-one drivers have guaranteed spots on the
Shootout grid, by having won a main event last season at Airborne, Thunder Road or on the ACT
Dodge Tour.
Laperle raced to his third ACT Dodge Tour career victory opening day, but he was winless in
2001 and must post the highest finish of any non-qualified car in the 50-lap "Last Chance" race that
precedes the Shootout. The "Last Chance" contest promises to be a thriller, as all Shootout eligibles
are required to participate, and will be assigned Shootout starting positions based upon their finish.
"Airborne is my favorite track," says Laperle. " I feel very comfortable there. I have a fast new
race car (Dale Shaw chassis) and a new sponsor (Demers Ambulance Services) and I think I have a
good chance to get in the Shootout."
The Remington "4-10" Shootout consists of four 10-lap sprints. The starting line-up is
determined by the finish of the 50-lap last chance event, subsequent line-ups are set by inverting the
prior order of finish. The four rounds are cumulatively scored, one point for 1st, two points for 2nd etc.
The lowest overall total decides the winner.
Among the Shootout eligibles are 2001 Airborne Late Model Champion Mark Lamberton of
Mooers Forks, NY, 2001 ACT Dodge Tour Champion Pete Fecteau of Morrisville, VT, Thunder Road
Late Model Champion Cris Michaud of Northfield, VT and two-time Thunder Road Champion Phil Scott,
winner of last year's Remington Shootout.
Post time for the Remington "4-10" Shootout is 1 pm. Gates open at 10 am. Airborne Raceway
is located off Route 22 in Plattsburgh, NY one mile south of I-87 exit 39. Airborne hosts three ACT
Dodge Tour events in 2002, beginning with the 27th Ehler's RV Spring Green 100, Saturday, May 11.
