Brent Dragon: Can't "Weight" For 2002 ACT Dodge Tour Opener At Star

For Immediate Release ACT20-040502

Waterbury, VT - - ACT Dodge Tour veteran Brent Dragon of Milton, VT, a top-5 finisher four times in 2002, and 7th ranked overall, has formed a new team and is eager to begin a championship bid in the New England Dodge Dealers 100 at Star Speedway, Saturday, April 13.

On a regimen of "eating less, exercising more", as he puts it, the three-time Airborne Raceway Late Model Champion lost 35 lbs in the off-season, sufficient to require wholesale changes in the set-up of his Vermont Mack/Leo's Furniture sponsored Chevrolet. "Thirty-five pounds is a lot to account for in a race car," claims Dragon. "We've had to reposition all the lead weight ballast in the car." ACT Dodge Tour rules require that no more than 56% of a car's mandatory weight, driver included, be carried on the left side.

Dragon, who underwent laser eye surgery prior to the start of the 2001 season, says that if his weight loss doesn't benefit his performance, he's not sure of his next move. "Maybe, I'll have to consider plastic surgery," he said, adding, "Seriously, I think I can put together a top five season, maybe win a couple of races, and hopefully, be there at the end. One of the keys for me is to improve at Thunder Road. I have some new sponsors and new teammates, including crew chief Pat Lynch and we're optimistic. We're going to keep it at one car this year. Last year, I had two, and getting either one just the way I wanted it was hard."

Dragon will meet up with over 40 Late Model competitors on the Star quarter-mile, including his cousin Scott, a former Airborne Raceway Rookie of the Year, as well as defending ACT Dodge Tour Champion Pete Fecteau, Vermont Milk Bowl winner Dwayne Lanphear and 2001 Thunder Road Late Model Champion Cris Michaud of Northfield, VT, winner of the ACT opener at Star last year.

Post time for the New England Dodge Dealers 100, Saturday, April 13 at Star Speedway is 2 pm. Additional Star Speedway divisions will also be in action. For further information, call ACT at (802) 244-6963, Star Speedway at (603) 679-5306, or log onto
