Some ACT Dodge Tour Heavyweights Looking For More At '02 Star Opener
For Immediate Release ACT17-032502
Epping, NH - - Over 40 ACT Dodge Tour Late Model teams are expected at Star Speedway
Saturday, April 13 for the New England Dodge Dealers 100. Among them are five top-15 drivers who
struggled in the Star Tour opener last year, Jamie Fisher, Eric Williams, Todd Stone, Tracie Bellerose
and Ken Dufour.
Fisher, the 2001 ACT Dodge Tour Runner-up, fell 12 points shy of the title behind ACT
Champion Pete Fecteau. He won a late-summer event at the Epping, NH quarter-mile, but wound up
23rd on opening day, a race in which Fecteau finished 4th. "I was running near the front and got taken
out," said Fisher. "Sometimes that's how it goes, but I'm hoping for better luck this time."
Stone ended his second season on the ACT circuit in a 5th place tie, but settled for 15th on
opening day. Bellerose, the former Thunder Road Late Model Champion from Gorham, NH, started
18th and finished 21st. She eventually raced her way into tenth place overall, but it took her the entire
2001 season to get there.
Another New Hampshire driver, Ken Dufour of Bethlehem, qualified on the second row at Star,
but wound up 22nd. Dufour enjoyed a quick turnaround with his first ever ACT win two weeks later at
Thunder Road (VT) was 12th in the Series at year's end. Williams, eighth-ranked in 2001, recorded
eight top-10 finishes last year, but could manage no better than 16th in the opener.
Cris Michaud of Northfield, VT, the 2001 Thunder Road Late Model Champion and Dwayne
Lanphear of Morrisville, VT, 1-2 in last year's New England Dodge Dealers 100, are among the entrants.
New Hampshire drivers Buzzie Bezanson/Plaistow, Herb Drugg/Troy, Gary Knight/Charlestown, Victor
Johnson/Troy and Star's own Bob Webber Jr will also be on hand.
Post time for the 2002 ACT Dodge tour opener Saturday, April 13 is 2 pm. Additional Star
Speedway divisions will be in action. For further scheduling and ticket information, call ACT at (802)
