Thunder Road Late Models - Crowded At The Top

For Immediate Release TR41-072402

Barre, VT - Cooper MacRitchie, now squarely in the Thunder Road Late Model title hunt, after his narrow victory over Tracie Bellerose last week, goes after two straight at Thunder Road this Thursday, on Castrol/Routhier Quick Lube Night. MacRitchie sits 5th overall with 482 points to point leader Phil Scott's 541. Defending "King of the Road" Cris Michaud and Lamoille County drivers Eric Williams and Pete Fecteau are 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Williams and Fecteau have three top-5 finishes apiece, but are still looking for their first 2002 win. Bellerose, after missing one race early, has been on a tear of her own. The former Thunder Road champion has finished in the top ten five weeks in a row.

The Napa Flying Tiger Sportsmen and the Allen Lumber Street Stocks will also be in action. Ten Street Stock main events to date have produced 10 different winners, most recently, Lyndonville's Dan Bigelow.

Post time for the Castrol/Routhier Quick Lube race card is 7 pm. Gates open at 5 pm.

Thunder Road is located atop Quarry hill in Barre, one mile from the intersection of Route 14. For further information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit
